About Me and My Family

Welcome! I’m so glad you stopped by! I’m Sherry and I’m so happy you found my blog. I started my blog in 2005. I started it on the Blogger platform way back in 2005, but over the last few years have moved it to WordPress. It was my creative outlet for many years where I shared the struggles of living with a son with Autism and seizures. Now I share those post on our fernwood farm website and this website focus on women and sharing my faith walk with them.
On this website I share how to over come daily struggles we all face with a godly influence. I share short devotionals and I have devotionals you can purchase if you are dealing with a certain issue in your life and need Godly guidance in facing it in the light of scripture.
We all have questions about our faith and I tackle the big issues that women face on a daily from family struggles to work life blance. I try and focus on what the Bible says about the big topics like grace, faith, and salvation. I don’t leave anything out and I don’t follow any denomination with my writing it comes straight from the Bible like it should. I did Kay Arthur studies for over 30 years and was a leader for many of those years. I study the Bible line by line precept upon precept.

My family and I live in Kentucky and we have a farm we call home. We are passionate about creating a healthy clean environment for our children. We have a Non- GMO Organic farm where we grow as many vegetables as we can. I can tell you some years the deer win, we have a herd of deer that move around here in the valley where we live and tend to eat all of our gardens from time to time.
God has blessed us with two children, Icy and Dusty. It is such a joy to be their mom. Life has been difficult for each one of them, one being special needs and the other living in the shadow of a special needs sibling. they each have faced struggles but in different ways. Our son was diagnosed with seizures and Tuberous Sclerosis at the age of 2 1/2. He has never went a day with out seizures. When he was 4 he was diagnosed with Autism. My daughter is such a big help with her brother. They are very close and she always tries to have a smile on her face no matter what is happening.
My husband and I have been married for 41 years and have two grown children. Our oldest son is special needs and has Autism and seizures I share a lot of the struggles of living with seizures and Autism on my Fernwood Farm blog. We try to live as close to natural as we can. I am allergic to most chemicals, even those used to clean your house with. I share a few of the things I use in our home here. I can walk down the cleaning aisle and my eyes will start burning and I will start to itch all over and have to take allergy medicine right away or I will be looking for my Epi-pen.
In 2005 I had an allergic reaction to corn I had bought at a local farmers market and it sent me to the hospital for three days. They found out I was allergic to GMO fruits and vegetables ( GMO products have round-up herbicide in the cellular levels) so we started growing as many things as we could grow. I have to be very careful now when we eat out too.
In 2017 I was diagnosed with Alpha-Gal Syndrome. That is the tick disease where you can’t eat the meat or by products of all four legged animals. It has been hard adjusting to this new diet but I am in the process of creating a cookbook of a lot of really tasty meals. I take family favorites and make them as healthy as possible with lots of taste and low carb and little to no sugar. I am creating a cookbook of recipes for the Alpha-Gal diet. On the Alpha Gal diet you are limited to Chicken, turkey, duck and sea food. I create lots of new recipes from old favorites. I will be coming out with a cookbook soon. It is in the works and I am hoping to have it finished by May 2026.
I am truly passionate about creating a beautiful, thriving healthy home one that has God at it’s center. Our blog is a work in progress. We hope one day our blog will be a financial means of support for our family. In this way you are helping my family continue to work from home and we will always “pay it forward” by sharing what we’re learning about here on the blog. We love it when you share our posts on your social media channels and when you email us with ideas you would like for us to explore.
I shared with you earlier we have an Organic Farm here in Kentucky. Our little farm is Fernwood Farms it was established in 2001. Here is our Facebook page ( our website is under construction right now, so check back often it should be up soon) so you can see what we are doing. I do share things on our Facebook page that are important to the organic life style and a few awesome recipes and how to live as close to a natural life style as you can!
We share a lot of environmental posts about what is going on in the agriculture industry that affects the average consumer. I am working on being a family that is as close to zero waste as we can get, so you will see post of that nature too.
