Healing

Healing Beyond the Physical

When we think of healing, our minds often go straight to the body. God’s healing is so much bigger. Scripture shows us that God heals, minds, emotions, relationships, and even our broken hearts.

God Heals the Broken Hearted

Psalms 147:3 says “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Emotional wounds can run very deep and can destroy someone’s life if they aren’t dealt with in the proper way.

God wants to heal us both emotionally and physically so that we can do our part in the kingdom of God. When we are bound by emotional wounds it’s hard for us to see past them and see what is really right in front of us. We tend to see through our emotional pain and that can cloud our judgment and God doesn’t want us to think that way. He wants us clear headed and emotionally strong so we can face the things we are dealing with, with the mind of Christ always in the forefront.

Healing for the Mind and Emotions

Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us that God’s peace can guard our hearts and mind. Anxiety, fear, and depression are not ignored by God, He offers peace that surpasses all understanding.

“Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.” Philippians 4:6-7 CEV

As children of God we must make sure to guard our hearts. The enemy wants to get us all bound up in worry, depression, and strife. When we allow the enemy to keep us bound then we can’t do the work that God has called us to do because we have a negative mindset that steers our thinking. Nothing good can come from a negative mindset.

Spiritual Healing: Forgiveness and reconciliation

“By his wounds you have been healed” 1 Peter 2:24

Our healing is first spiritual, we come to God with a repentant heart so we can ask forgiveness for the life we have lived up to this point. We have been walking in our sinful nature and that has lead us far from God. But the Father will draw all men unto Him.

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.” John 6:44 NIV

” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John3:16-17 NIV

God calls all of us to repentance and spiritual healing. He wants us to be healed and set free from the entanglements of this evil fallen world. He has a totally new plan for our lives that is so much better than the plans of the enemy. this scripture says it the best.

” For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope an a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

The greatest sickness is sin, and our greatest healing is salvation.

Relational Healing

Colossians 3: 13 urges us ” forgive as the Lord forgave you.” God not on heals individuals but He restores relationships. His grace empowers forgiveness, reconciliation, and peace in families and in communities.

Forgiving those that have done you harm or hurt you in some way is a hard thing to do. It isn’t something we can actually do on our own we need the Lords help to forgive those that have hurt us. In His word God speaks of forgiveness a lot. How can God forgive us when we aren’t even willing to forgive others that have hurt us.

” For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15 NIV

As christians we must be willing to forgive others. When we do we are showing maturity in Christ. We are also showing the love of God through our forgiveness. People always make mistakes we should always offer forgiveness and love to all people that way they will see a difference in us and they will see God through our actions and it just might be the way that brings others to Christ.

Healing is so much more than a physical healing. God comes into our lives and he heals us from the inside out first healing our soul, then our spirit, then finally he heals our body so we can then serve him for the rest of our lives.
