Who Is Directing Your Path

Scripture for the week:

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path. Proverbs 3:6

Everyday we have things that try and take over our life. Things at work get in the way of family life and church. We also struggle with having enough time for self care and time to just sit and relax. Our lives now is in a state of fast paced, hurry, hurry that we don’t have time to decompress or just relax.

Ok, we know the issue now how do we fix it? This is what I have done over the years to limit the stress and busyness that seems to want to take over my life.

  1. I make time in the morning to just be with God. In that I mean I will sometimes just sit with soft worship music on and listen for what God is wanting to say to me.
  2. Some mornings I just sit with pencil and paper waiting on God.
  3. The most important thing to do is to quiet your mind. Don’t let your mind race to what you have to get done today or think about things. Just sit and listen, read a few passages from your Bible and then just listen for His voice to speak to you.

Some days He will speak to you from the passages you read. Then sometimes the Holy Spirit will lead you to read a certain passage by bringing it to your mind while you are sitting in His presence. This is how the Holy Spirit speaks to you. It’s his still small voice that gives you direction.

I always have a journal when I sit and spend time with the Holy Spirit. I like to write down what I hear. Sometimes it’s scripture and sometimes it’s just a word that keeps coming to mind. I always write what I hear down. When the Holy Spirit gives me a word usually it is to focus on something in my life or something He wants me to study or something he wants me to write about here on the blog.

Read passages in different translations

When the Holy Spirit gives me verses to look up most times I look them up in several different translations because I want to make sure that I gather the entire meaning from the passage. Using other translations helps me know what that section of scripture is talking about.

Taking Time

It is so important that we take time and listen for the Holy Spirit. Life is just to messy without the Holy Spirit in our lives. Our families need the direction of the Holy Spirit now more than ever. Our world is getting harder and harder to live for God, We must take time and seek Him everyday so that we can have the life that God has promised for us in his word.

Here is another wonderful Scripture for you this week.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. (Proverbs 16:9 NIV)

This just goes along with this weeks scripture so nicely. Take time this week and allow God to establish your path. Be sure to write in your journal what he shows you.

Many Blessings,

Sherry
